Row of scrolling dots along the top of the dashboard

On my dashboard, there's a row of dots (on/off) that slowly scroll from right to left. Are those dots decorative or informational and what do they measure?

That's just a convention for displaying network activity. Every ten seconds if data is received (by the browser via MQTT :username/dashboard/steam/create topic) you get a blue square. If not, gray square.
