Sending Data to front end app

by Alfredfoby on Tue Mar 24, 2020 3:49 pm

I don't know if this is possible, but can I send data from my adafruit io feeds to a front end app I create? Like real time data from the feeds updating.

If so then what is essentially required to do this?

Thanks.

While you can write to feeds from another application using WebHooks, sending data from Adafruit IO to another app can be tricky.

You may be able to get the data using the HTTP API: https://io.adafruit.com/api/docs/#get-last-data

I thought there was a way to use Node js, I was thinking of building like a web app, using html, css, javascript and node js, I just wasn't sure if it was possible to have it feed my web app all the real time data.

We do provide a Node.js client, local server, and TLS tunnel for io.adafruit.com on our GitHub. This library can use both the REST API and the MQTT API to access feeds and data on Adafruit IO.
