ESP8266 Problem: ..class WiFiClientSecure' has no member na

by Max47 on Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:47 am

Hello,
on the example 'adafruitio_13_rgb' I get the following error message, which I cannot handle:

C:\Users\maxsteger\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Adafruit_IO_Arduino\src\wifi\AdafruitIO_ESP8266.cpp:25:12: error: 'class WiFiClientSecure' has no member named 'setFingerprint'

_client->setFingerprint(AIO_SSL_FINGERPRINT);

I installed all the libraries which reference to ESP8266 from adafruit and followed the instructions (adafruit-huzzah-esp8266-breakout.pdf) very thoroughly. (Win10, arduinoIDE 1.8.12)
Please give me some advice to solve this problem. Thanks!

Which ESP8266 board support package version are you using?

You can find this in Arduino -> Tools -> Board -> Board manager -> Search for "ESP8266"

Thanks to your hint, I updated the library to version 2.7.4 and now this problem is gone.
Thank you very much!
