Magnetometer LSM9DS1

by PhysicsUTK on Fri May 07, 2021 10:54 am

Hi,

I am creating a magnetometer array. What I need is the type of magnetometer sensor being used in the LSM9DS1. Is this sensor designed like the MEMS magnetic field sensor? I need direction on how this sensor senses the magnetic field. What type of material is in the chip that allows it to see the local magnetic field? How is it designed or who manufactures the chip? Here is the link to the unit that is in question. https://www.adafruit.com/product/3387

Thank you.

@PhysicsUTK,

I can link you to the ST product page and datasheet for the LSM9DS1 sensor. It is not just a magnetometer, but a accelerometer and gyro chip combo. The datasheet focuses more on the interface and modes to interact with the sensor and provides little if any of the underlying details of how it works. That might be a better question for ST if they are willing to provide some more details.
