Making a Command Line Interface for Adafruit.io

by rjsteinert on Thu Dec 17, 2015 10:32 pm

I have a lot of other commands that pull data from devices. I would like to be able to Unix pipe that data to a command that pushes the data to the Adafruit.io. For example:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
pull-from-sensor | adafruit --feed XYZ --aio-key ABC

So I created a simple CLI that does that :)

https://github.com/openpipekit/opk-cli--adafruit-io

As a next step, I would like that if the pull command returns a bunch of sensors in JSON, that it creates feeds on Adafruit.io, puts them in a group, and then starts piping the data over. Is anyone else interested in this as well?

This is cool, more clients the merrier!

We also have an open source command line client written in node.js as well: https://github.com/adafruit/adafruit-io-node#client

Thanks for the tip! I thought that library was just a Node library, didn't realize it was a CLI.
