Is or will be Adafuit IO Open Source?

Is or will be Adafuit IO Open Source? Or can you at least say some words about the technology behind. Is it done by Adafruit from scratch or what other components do you use? We experimenting with different tools for a Bee Monitoring project. We are using Grafana, InfluxDB, Mosquitto, Kotori. It is based on MQTT atm but has lots of open ends. I like Adafruit IO and see some nice features in it but also some weak points - especially graphing. So I wonder if we could use it or contribute to it in case it would fit our needs too?

We've open sourced an API compatible version of our server here: https://github.com/adafruit/adafruit-io-node

This allows you to move your data, and continue to use your existing code with minor changes. All of our client libraries are open source. The dashboard and UI is not right now due to it's tight integration with Adafruit Accounts.
