Amazon Echo and Feather Commands

by macgeek on Mon Feb 12, 2018 10:33 pm

Hey all, Long time No SEE!!!

Is there a way to define a command beyond the default On/Off?

What I am looking for is to just Give the command
"Alexa jump the shark" and the feather executes the command.
(turns the "Shark On an then Off")

I have written a arduino script, where if I say "Alexa turn shark on" it executes the script perfectly.

any help out there?

THANKS YOU AWESOME NERDS!

Hey, welcome back!

You can probably do that using Routines:

They're collections of simpler actions that you can trigger with an arbitrary command phrase.

Are you still using the "fauxmoESP" library? If so Make sure it's up to date.
Lots of changes made recently including ESP32 support.

Thank you Doug,
I updated all my libraries!, boards, etc.

Would you know the command to replace the 'turn on' function?
or set the phrase to activate the feather?

Jonathan

Jonathan,

From what I've read on the creator of the library's site the Wemo only supports "On/Off" at this time. There was some mention of writing a custom Echo script but I didn't follow that rabbit.

Who is John Galt?

I read the book :)

Yea, I am chasing any rabbits down any holes that get me a solution, Amazon support is an oxymoron.
