Clue - Bootloader issue

by saltpoint3289 on Sun Feb 23, 2020 4:30 pm

By connecting the Clue via USB, I was able to create a bootloader. The process completed without errors. But the display on the Clue is now absent. When I double click the reset button, I get a green led. The name of the device has changed to ClueBot in the Finder. When I power via a battery the double reset accomplishes nothing. the Board info from the IDE reports:

UF2 Bootloader 0.3.0 lib/nrfx (v2.0.0) lib/tinyusb (legacy-1500-g23df777b) s140 6.1.1
Model: Adafruit Clue nRF52840
Board-ID: nRF52840-Clue-revA
Date: Jan 13 2020

The attached file shows the Tools - Board choices

Thank you for your help. I am quite an amateur but continue forging ahead in an effort to influence my grand daughters in their outlooks. At 9 and 6, they have soldered boards, built robots, done some programming and their best advice is - "Cyn, take a break!" We have especially liked the Clue!

In my continuing messing around, I downloaded the circuit python libraries and the spirit level example, changed the file name to code.py and was successful in its display. Woohoo! But I do not believe I have bluetooth. Thank you,

Just so you know it exists, there's a ready-to-go hardware test UF2 you can download from here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-clue/arduino-test
It's easy to use - just put the board in bootloader mode and drag the UF2 file over. It's a nice way to make sure everything is generally working OK.

Since it sounds like you are working in CircuitPython, see if one of the example in the library helps:
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Ci ... r/examples

[EDIT] These were just added. There are now Clue versions of this guide:
https://learn.adafruit.com/circuit-pyth ... ndy-hearts
here:
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Le ... ndy_Hearts
There's nothing in the guide (yet) about this. But just use the .py files that start with clue.

Thank you. I am more comfortable with Circuit Python than Arduino and am making great progress. I love that the guides change on a daily basis - I noticed that! Yesterday I found the changes to be very helpful. Thank you for your reply. I am ok now!
