Feather Fona - SIM Module doesn't stay off

by bauerbyter on Sat May 15, 2021 2:38 am

Hey,
I have an Adafruit Feather Fona with an TPL51111. The Feather is turning on every 2 Hours with the enable pin. At the end of my sketch I use:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
    digitalWrite(keyPin, HIGH);
    delay(500);
    digitalWrite(keyPin, LOW);
    delay(2000);

to turn off the SIM Module. This is working, but afterwards I set the DonePin of the TPL51111 to HIGH and the Feather shuts down... and unfortunately the SIM Module turns on again after 1-2 seconds (TPL and Feather are staying off). Does somebody know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Edit: some more informations: keyPin is pin 12 and is connected to the KeyPin. And yes I cutted the "key-pad".

Set the KEY pin high again after the FONA shuts off.

Hey thanks for your answer, but how should I do that, when everything is off ?

It feels like there is a short peak when the device is turning off and this is treated like HIGH. But I have no idea how to pull the key high after the Fona shuts down.

Even on the Feather FONA, the microcontroller should keep running when the SIM800 module is shut down.

Ah understood you wrong.
So at the End just Key Pin to High and when the microcontroller is disabled, it will be set to GND.

Unfortunately, still doesnt work perfectly. It goes off but after 20-30seconds it starts again, without changing anything.

If you're also shutting down the microcontroller, you'll need to connect a pull-up resistor to the KEY pin to keep its voltage high when everything else is shut off.

Post a photo showing your hardware and connections and we'll take a look. 800x600 images usually work best.
