ItsyBitsy nRF52840 Express bricked

by argotwo on Sat Oct 23, 2021 9:10 pm

Silly me, clumsily writing too many sketches and seem to have bricked my itsy. Arduino IDE can't access the port even though it is seen in Windows.

Have tried double click on the reset button. This shows a \ITSY840BOOT folder. With a .UF2 file.
I tried swapping this out with the file from here: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_nR ... r/releases
Although the relevant file appeared to write ok, this did not change anything.

I note there is a guide here: https://learn.adafruit.com/bluefruit-nr ... bootloader
But how to do a factory reset?

Any guidance would be appreciated :)
Sorry for the bother!

This shows a \ITSY840BOOT folder.

This is the bootloader running. The board is not bricked. With that folder showing, try uploading a basic Blink example with the Arduino IDE.

Genius! That sorted it out.
So an errant sketch was locking it perhaps? Overwriting that sketch brought things back to normal?

Yep, most likely, exactly that. In general, as long as you can get back to bootloader mode, should always be able to recover from an odd state.

Many thanks for the support - one of the many reasons to buy Adafruit products!
