Installing CircuitPythonn on Feather RP2040

Post by behindthedriver »

Hi Adafruit Support Forums,

I'm trying to install Circuitpython on my brand new Feather RP2040 according to the standard beginner guide. This process is pretty familiar to me as I've just finished installing or upgrading to Circuitpython 7.0 and some demos on my Circuit playground bluefruit, Clue, Funhouse, Macropad RP2040, and my LED Glasses Driver board without any issues.

The board loads the bootloader "RPI-RP2" drive for me and I can drag and drop the circuitpython uf2 files onto it but when it disappears it just appears to go dead. The LEDs don't turn on again and it never re-appears as a USB device. I can still hold down the BOOTSEL button and get back to the bootloader "RPI-RP2" drive but nothing further.

I've tried using the flash-nuke.uf2 each time before trying to install CircuitPython 6.1, 7.0, and 7.1 Beta. The flash-nuke appears to work as dragging and dropping it into RPI-RP2 causes it to disappear for a bit and then return.

Does it sound like a dead board? Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

All I can think of is to make sure you have the correct build of CircuitPython.

Once it's copied to RPI-RP2, CIRCUITPY should mount.

Sorry, I now realize I forgot to post details on the files I've tried so far. I have tried to double and triple check on the circuit python site that I have the correct files for the board.

These are the files I've tried:
adafruit-circuitpython-adafruit_feather_rp2040-en_US-6.2.0.uf2 md5: d29195272e43aca6164521ba44de1c04
adafruit-circuitpython-adafruit_feather_rp2040-en_US-7.0.0.uf2 md5: dde67ec99a7aca199de4d90722684f86
adafruit-circuitpython-adafruit_feather_rp2040-en_US-7.1.0-beta.0.uf2 md5: 8e283708867f1099c1a3cbfce716fd19
flash_nuke.uf2 md5: 6f6f31460c258138bd33cc96ddd76b91

Thanks!

OK here is a photo of the front. Let me know if you also need other photos.

I don't see anything to account for the behavior and am checking in the support group... maybe someone has run into this before and has a simple solution.

this is quite odd, especially if you 'nuked' it - email support@adafruit for a new one - see if that helps!
