Board Manager for Arduino_Not seeing Adafruit Boards

by jlcourt on Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:42 pm

I'm returning to microcontrollers after about a 5 year absence (work will do that!) Purchased a featherboard Huzzah32 and am using Arduino IDE 1.8.19 on a Macbook Pro running 10.13.6.

Followed directions from Adafruit to add "Additional Boards" link through Preferences, but don't see any Adafruit Boards listed under "Contributed" pull down menu in Board Manager. Here's link to directions: https://learn.adafruit.com/add-boards-a ... v164/setup

And here is link I copied to "Additional Board Manager URL" (in preferences): https://adafruit.github.io/arduino-boar ... index.json

Did all the usual, downloaded recommended USB driver (it works - was able to test an old Duemilanove board) rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled Arduino IDE.

I'm a novice so I'm probably missing something simple, but would appreciate someone telling me where I went wrong.

The Huzzah32 is an outlier as it uses the espressif/arduino-esp32 repository. There are instructions here for it.

https://learn.adafruit.com/add-boards-a ... v164/setup
https://github.com/espressif/arduino-es ... rduino-ide

In general though to see almost all of our other boards (AVR/SAMD) based you have done the correct steps. You then need to go to Arduino --> Tools --> Board --> Board Manager and install the appropriate package for your controller.
