Lemon feather?

Post by LisannaD »

Been having some trouble with my feather I just got. Order #2864500-8258518547. It's the Adafruit ESP32-S3 Feather with 4MB Flash 2MB PSRAM

Plugging it in shows a solid red LED and a blinking green LED on either side of the USB port.

When trying to enter the bootloader to install circuit python, the RGB status LED does not turn on, as this guide indicates it should: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-esp ... cuitpython

The device does not come up on any COM port when trying to perform a bootloader reset via https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-esp ... tory-reset.

I verified the USB cable I'm using is a data cable by plugging in my phone and browsing files on it. I have tried the above with a Chromebook and two windows laptops (win 10 and 11) with no indication that I've plugged in any device. No COM ports show anything attached.

Maybe I got a lemon?

Here is a front and back photo, and a video showing an attempt to enter the bootloader and an attempt to perform a bootloader reset. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UQ9ymPBYEjDeWzqy8

Is this the process you have been following to get into bootloader mode?

Boot button
To enter ROM bootloader mode, hold down DFU button while clicking reset button mentioned above. When in the ROM bootloader, you can upload code and query the chip using esptool.

Yes, I held down the boot/DFU button and pressed the reset button. The LED did not turn on and the device did not show up on my Windows 10 laptop.

Did you install the CH9102 / CH34X USB driver for Windows?

Both methods still produce no connected devices on any COM port ):

Alright, we can swap it since you have verified cable and drivers on two machines.

Please email [email protected] with your order# and a link to this forum thread. Please let us know if the replacement resolves this.
