Hello,
Can the Adafruit Feather M0 RFM96 LoRa Radio be powered by applying 5V at the VBAT pin instead of using the battery connector or USB port?

Use the USB pin rather than BAT.
BAT is connected to the output of the onboard LiPo charger, and that doesn't want to see voltages higher than 4.2v.
The USB pin is connected to the USB jack's 5v pin, so they're equivalent.
