Question about powering/charging the nRF52832

Reading the writeups on the nRF52832 about power, I would like to confirm if what I think I am reading is correct.

If I understand everything correctly, I can power my nRF52 via a LiPO battery connected to the JST connector. No problem there. But, if I want to add an external charging port to charge the battery, I can wire a USB connector to pins GND and VBUS (aka USB) and now when I plug in a USB charger to my added port, it will power the nRF52 and charge the battery at the same time.

Part 2. If I do the above setup, is there a way to activate the charger without running the nRF52? During charge mode, all I care about is getting the battery back to 100%. Don't want the nRF52 on at all. Or would I be better off adding a PowerBooster 1000C (ID# 2465) and running the LiPO battery and charging through that so I can isolate the battery during charging?
