Voltage tracking 4x AA batteries on feather

by IoTAll on Tue Jul 09, 2019 10:47 am

Hi!

I would like to power a feather with 4x AA batteries.
I read on your website that the best way is to use the boost buck converter which convert the 3-12V to 5v and to power the feather with the USB output. Is this the best way?

The question I have also is: is there a way to check the voltage level of the 4x AA betteries with the microcontrollers?

Thank you for the help!!
Best regards,
Ken

You can monitor battery voltage from an analog pin on the Feather. But you will need to use something like a voltage divider to scale the battery voltage down below 3.3v which is the maximum you can measure on the Feather.

Using a 2:1 voltage divider will keep the voltage within range. And you can just multiply the measured voltage by 2 to calculate the actual battery voltage.
