PIOASM

by DickBurke2014 on Tue May 11, 2021 12:53 pm

I have just received my Feather RP2040 and I have a question regarding programming. I have been using CircuitPython on my Raspberry Pi Pico and just assumed that the Feather could be programmed the same way. When I looked at the overview it leads me to believe that I need to use PIOASM. Is this correct? Or is it just an alternative to CircuitPython?
Thank you for any help you might give. Dick Burkhartzmeyer

You can totally use CircuitPython on the Feather RP2040. General guide info here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-feather-rp2040-pico
but it's essentially the same as what you've probably done for the Pico. Grab firmware UF2 from here:
https://circuitpython.org/board/adafrui ... er_rp2040/
put board in bootloader mode, drag UF2 to RPI-RP2 folder. Done.

Where did you see the PIOASM info? That relates to the PIO feature of the RP2040 chip. There's an associated programming language for using it:
https://learn.adafruit.com/intro-to-rp2 ... cuitpython
But that does not replace the CircuitPython firmware.
