GPS won't lock onto fix with 2500mAH LiPO

Post by drewc228 »

I am using a Feather ESP32 with an Ultimate GPS powered by a fully charged (3.7V) 2500mAH LiPO battery. When I power it up the GPS cannot lock onto a fix as the voltage seems to dip below some threshold where the GPS can't operate (somewhere around 3.3V I think.) When I power the GPS via it's own 3.7V battery it works well, getting a fix within a minute or so. Is there a technique or trick I can use to avoid the drop, say powering the GPS from the "Bat" pin instead of the "3V" pin? What is the minimum voltage I need to consistently operate the GPS? Thanks.

Update: I tried connecting the GPS vcc directly to the 3.7V LiPo and it's now working. Guess the "3V" pin on the Feather wasn't supplying enough juice to power the Feather, GPS and wing OLED display.
