RS232 kills USB serial

Post by pateco »

Hi,

I attached an MAX3232 RS232 transceiver to the RX and TX pins on a Adafruit Feather M4 CAN Express with ATSAME51 and the USB serial port has died. The board still functions otherwise. Is there an issue with the way I connected things?

Thanks

Looks like you swapped RX_D0 and TX_D1, resulting in a possibly (too) high current through TX. I'm afraid you burned either that MAX3232 or your feather's output.

I see, I was pretty sure it was dead. Are the RX and TX pins shared with USB Serial? Are there other serial hardware ports exposed, i.e. Serial1, Serial2, Serial3, ...?
