Neopixel on battery powered project

Post by HardAtWork »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I saw a mini neopixel on the Adafruit ESP32-S2 TFT Feather. This is a 3.3V board with a LiPo so how does that neopixel work if there is no 5V USB? The eagle is not posted so I can't tell if there is a boost or something?
I've been trying to figure out how to do this without a whole boost circuit just for one neopixel and am stumped. Any advice (even if it's not how Ladyada did it) would be amazing.

Neopixels will work powered by 3.3v and a 3.3v data signal. They won't get as bright as with 5v but they will work fine.

Thanks for the reply! I've always been scared away by the datasheets saying it needs 4.5-5.5V or similar...
