Adafruit Feather M4 Express Chip smoking

Adafruit Feather M4 Express Chip smoking

Hi i need some help with where i went wrong, I have the adafruti feather M4, I plugged this battery in (image attached

And this it started to smoke, now the device doesn't receive power unless connected by micro USB

i found the chip that burnt up (image attached [attachment=0]3857-01.jpg[/attachment).. do you know what has happened here

Collins Lab Notes did a video on this specific issue because it's becoming too common. Please use adafruit batteries or ensure that the battery you do get from Amazon (or other retailers) has the correct polarity design for your feather board. Adafruit uses PK Cell batteries.

DJDevon is correct. Your battery looks like it is reversed. Take a look at https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/970x728/1304-01.jpg

Thanks a lot both, I Just had a look at it was the battery connectors being the wrong way round.. real shame, hopefully, I can get a refund on this and try again
