**SOLVED**
In preparation for the arrival of the Adafruit SD Card boards, I removed direct connections and added a plug and socket arrangement to prevent damage from continued soldering.
I had a second HW-125 board in my box of bit's so decided to add the appropriate connections.
This second board works fine, here is the output from the SDFat Adafruit Fork, SDInfo example code:

So I had a faulty SDCard board. Not to be entirely unexpected I suppose. But it proves these cheap HW-125 boards work fine with the Feather Sense at 3.3v with the connection as shown, I hope that might be useful to someone else.
I will still move to the smaller Adafruit boards when they arrive.
Still prototyping, so excuse the soldering and connections :-)
