Drivers for Wings for Micropython on the ESP8266

by deshipu on Mon Jun 27, 2016 5:54 pm

Since the Micropython on the ESP8266 Kickstarter was a success and the firmware is quite stable and useful already, I took some time to write a number of drivers for the Adafruit FeatherWings. Of course those drivers work with any module using the same (or similar) components, not just the official FeatherWings. Below are the links to the code:

I would really appreciate any testing and feedback.

There are also two drivers that are already built-in in Micropython:

Enjoy!

The CharlieWing finally arrived, and I wrote a driver for that as well. It's available at: https://bitbucket.org/thesheep/micropyt ... 1fl3731.py

Looking at the datasheet, I noticed that this chip is capable of quite more than the Adafruit libraries allow, so I went ahead and included support for additional features:
  • Blinking pixels
  • Switching between frames
  • Fading between frames
  • Automatic animation
  • Music-driven animation
