Hello,
I have some of the yellow gear motors and an L298N driver. The driver has a 5v out.
Can I power the CPX from that?
I'm trying to build a small robot for my students to use in class. I promised them, so now I have to deliver.

Motors. They came with this kit. I want to make 2 small robots from it. I have 2 L298Ns.

I also have some L9110 on the way but I don't know when they will arrive. China is closed at the moment.

I'm learning as I go as well.
Thanks.

Re: CPX and L298N
You should probably be able to use the 5V output from that, yeah.
The Circuit Playground has its own 3.3V regulator, so you shouldn't have to worry about voltage noise from the motors.

It didn't work. I measured and have 5v coming out of the driver but when I plug the CPX, it won't turn on. Tried all my CPXs and the same.

Post a photo showing your hardware and connections and we'll take a look. 800x600 images usually work best.

Re: CPX and L298N
Had an Aha! moment in class.
I think I got it.
On the left is the cable and connector I bought and on the right is the Adafruit battery box.
Polarity was flipped. Thanks for the protection!

Re: CPX and L298N
That would do it. Glad to hear you found the issue.
