CPE UART with BlueSmirf
I am trying connect CPE to a Bluetooth module by Bluesmirf (https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/us ... 1518331716). I connected the bluesmirf to the CPE the usual way I do with any other arduino, VCC->VCC, GND->GND, TX->RX, and RX->TX. But wasn't having any luck. I was wondering if the TX/RX pin on the CPE is connected directly to the same UART pins the usb connector is, or do I have to do some Software Serial setup to make it work. I am referring to the pins labeled (RX A6) and (TX A7).

Re: CPE UART with BlueSmirf
The TX/RX pins on the Circuit Playground (both versions) are identified in code as the Serial1 interface.
The microcontrollers handle USB communication internally, and the interface named 'Serial' is the one that talks to the Arduino IDE's Serial Monitor, so on the Circuit Playgrounds that interface only exists in software.
The Serial1 interface has all the same functions as Serial, just a different name.
