Circuit Playground iOS App - Datasheet Support

by Lydecker on Mon Mar 19, 2018 8:28 am

Hi,

The description for the App on the app store says it is possible to save PDF datasheets to the Circuit Playground App.

Here is a screenshot from the wording on the app store page:

Since this app was updated to Version 2 - I cannot find a way to do this.

Our school is looking to buy multiple copies of this app for our iPads in school (as we teach Electronics) - however need to know how to use the PDF Datasheet functionality before we proceed with the purchase.

Hi Lydecker - That feature was removed from the app because it duplicated functionality available in the free iBooks app from Apple. Doing so allowed us to focus on adding new features.

Thanks for the reply.

That's disappointing - we were hoping to use the app in single app mode locked to CircuitPlayground in our labs (with all the datasheets available).

Back to the drawing board I guess....

That makes sense - thanks for the explanation.

Which datasheets do the students regularly use?

We have about 40 datasheets they regularly use for the course - things like 4001, 4013b, 555, 741, ATMEGA328p....

We have purchased a suit of iPads and have installed iPad mounts in the all the labs with the intention of using CircuitPlayground exclusively on the devices.

The component calculators combined with the datasheet vault made for the perfect all in one app when it was v1.x - however when the iOS 64bit app store enforcement came into effect we held fire till the app was updated to support 64 bits - then v2.x came around with no datasheet vault.... :(
