circuit playground Express Bluefruit nRF52840 Linux Arduino

by Toldcodger on Fri Jul 24, 2020 8:15 am

Hi,

I have managed to get my circuit playground Express Bluefruit nRF52840 connected to Arduino on a Win10 and Win 7 laptop, but my Debian Linux laptop won't upload sketches.

I've put the info I think you will need below. Let me know if you need more.

Linux version
RETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)"
NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="10"
VERSION="10 (buster)"

I installed adafruit-nrfutil and added the folder to the $PATH
When I run adafruit-nrfutil version I get this, which is the version I installed
~$ adafruit-nrfutil version
adafruit-nrfutil version 0.5.3.post12

When I try to upload anything I get the error below. I have the verbose version but it is too big to post. I can't see any other issues apart from the second to last line. This is actually after trying to upload "Blinky":

/home/dave/.arduino15/packages/adafruit/tools/arm-none-eabi-gcc/9-2019q4/bin/arm-none-eabi-objcopy -O ihex /tmp/arduino_build_584149/blinky.ino.elf /tmp/arduino_build_584149/blinky.ino.hex
adafruit-nrfutil dfu genpkg --dev-type 0x0052 --sd-req 0x00B6 --application /tmp/arduino_build_584149/blinky.ino.hex /tmp/arduino_build_584149/blinky.ino.zip
exec: "adafruit-nrfutil": executable file not found in $PATH
Error compiling for board Adafruit Circuit Playground Bluefruit.

I am fairly new to Linux so it may well be me not understanding the setup.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

This is the beginning of the report from the failed sketch that shows the version of Arduino I'm using:

Arduino: 1.8.10 (Linux), Board: "Adafruit Circuit Playground Bluefruit, 0.3.2 SoftDevice s140 6.1.1, Level 0 (Release)"
