Not Working

by GiRafn1 on Mon Mar 08, 2021 9:34 am

Hi

It is my first time playing with the circuit playground express, but I can't get it to work.
I have tried to plug it into my computer and press the reset button as the tutorial says, but nothing happens, there is no light or anything. Is there anything I have overlooked or something I have to do to make it work? (I have checked the usb-cable and it's working like it should)

Regards
Julie

Hello! First, let's make sure which Circuit Playground you have, since they sometimes get confused.

The Express is PID 3333, this one:

Is that what you have, or did you end up with the PID 3000, i.e. the Classic:

How to tell:

OK, thanks for confirming. Try double pressing the reset button. Do you get any LEDs then?

Is the little green LED next to the USB connector also not coming on?

That behavior with the green LED is odd. That's the power indicator LED and should just stay on.

How did you verify the USB cable works? If you can, try with some other USB cables and see if you get the same behavior with the green LED.

Is this a new Circuit Playground board? Or has it been used before?

I tried the usb cable with my powerbank and it worked. I just tried with all my usb cables and it has the same reaction as the first.
It should be a new circuit, I haven't used it before

OK, and just to be sure here - that's the green LED coming on briefly and then going out?

Let's try a replacement. Not sure what is causing that behavior, but that LED should not need anything more than just power to stay on.

Send an email to support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement Circuit Playground.

I have a very similar problem with a new Circuit Playground - Bluetooth Low Energy. The only difference is that all of the LEDs flash briefly red and the power LED flashes briefly green (at the same time as the red flash), then they all go off. When I plug it in again, the same thing happens, It also makes a tiny chirp.
