Real World Battery Life on MagTag w/ 420 mAh

by LikeABoat on Fri Apr 09, 2021 8:50 am

The first project I setup with a MagTag was the weather display.

When I first set it up I stuck it on the fridge and it stopped updating in less than a week.

I recharged it and it lasted about 2-3 weeks but I'm not real sure how long.

So I recharged it again and wrote down when I did it. That was February 22nd and it is still updating each day as of today (April 9).

Battery math is not my forte but can anyone explain the initial behavior and then also the (what feels like) extra long battery life?

Just updating here: the battery finally drained to a point it would no longer update on May 1, 2021 so it worked for 69 days on a single battery charge.

There is a lot of lore - much of it contradictory - surrounding battery life and charge cycles. But use-cases vary widely and what works in one case may not be applicable to all. RC hobbyists have some of the more extreme use cases, and many claim that you need 4 or 5 recharge cycles before the battery can achieve it maximum charge capacity.
