NEOPIXEL STRIP on CPX/CRICKIT

by htmagic on Mon May 03, 2021 1:11 pm

Folks,

I have been trying to get a 8 LED neopixel strip to work with CPX/Crickit.
This is the 8 LED neopixel strip: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1426

I believe I have +5 VDC, gnd, and the signal pin properly connected?
Although I see now that there is a Dout pin and Din pin.
I will have to check later on this evening to make sure I have the strip connect to the Din pin for the signal.

I have attached a snippet of the code I'm using.
My problem is that I can get the neopixels to work on the CPX, yet I cannot get them to light properly on the LED strip.
I have used A1 for the Crickit board yet I'm having issues with getting the strip to work properly.

I'm also looking closer at the product page for the LED strip I referenced and noticed in the pictures #2 and #4, there appears to be a header pin soldered to the LED strip circuit board. That is an excellent idea to use for a breadboard where the wires would have to be plugged into the breadboard. I'm using the male/female jumpers and the female end would plug into the strip easier then trying to insert the wires into the terminal strip on the Crickit board.

Thanks in advance for your review and response to this topic.

The code looks fine and the connection sounds correct. Make sure that Din of the strip is connected to the Crickit's NeoPixel connector.

Thank you Dave!
I just noticed that there is a Din and Dout signal.
Since I can't pick even 1 winning number from the Powerb*ll draw, what do you bet I picked the wrong signal pin?!

I will have to inspect this further when I get back to my project.

Dave,

Guess what? I had Dout vs Din.
Once you use the right signal, Din, to the signal terminal on the Crickit board, things work as designed!
So the moral of the story is, when in doubt, check to make sure Din goes to the signal terminal of the Crickit board.

Now I just have to learn to pick all the numbers except for 5 and the Powerball!
Then I might have a chance to hit the jackpot!
Thank you for your help and I hope this helps others as well!
May the FORCE be with you and have a magical day!
