I just received the Circuit Playground Express device so I can help create some learning tools. I plug it into the back of my Windows 10 machine with the supplied USB cable and the lights blink rainbow colors as expected. I press the reset button, the lights turn green, and CPLAYBOOT loads as expected.
If I try to load a uf2 file, try to open the loaded text file ("not responding"), or do anything else, File Explorer freezes up/stops responding.
I have also tested this on my Surface Pro in case it's a technical issue with my primary desktop PC, and it does the same thing. Suggestions? Thank you!

Re: Circuit Playgroud Express Freezing in Windows Explorer
There's a troubleshooting section in the CircuitPython learn guide that has helped me on occasion:
https://learn.adafruit.com/welcome-to-c ... leshooting
There are some known issues that might be related to the freezes you are experiencing.
See the sections listed in the guide:
- Windows Explorer Locks Up When Accessing boardnameBOOT Drive
- Copying UF2 to boardnameBOOT Drive Hangs at 0% Copied
- CIRCUITPY Drive Issues
Hope it helps. Good luck!

Thank you! I had tried some of the initial troubleshooting but I missed the external WD driver issues, and that did the trick.
