Windows 10 not recognizing device

Post by ArtificerApprentice »

I'm trying to connect the device to my windows 10 pc. I have the latest drivers installed. I have tried multiple cables. It gets recognized for a moment then disappears and I can't access it anymore. The lights are all green when I plug it in.

Thanks. That's a Circuit Playground Express.

To verify the USB cables are good, try using them with something else and verify they can successfully move data.

Then, on the CPX, try double pressing the reset button to put the board in bootloader mode. The NeoPixels should all turn green and you should see a folder with BOOT in the name appear. (are you seeing that folder briefly?)

There a few known possible causes for that. Check here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/welcome-to-c ... -2978448-5
and see if any of those apply for your setup.

If you have access to another PC, try the same test there (double press reset, look for BOOT folder) to see if the behavior is different.

doesn't show up on other computer. It seems to be in makercode mode. But if open something up in the first second CPLAYBOOT appears it can read but one a moment then it locks up reading. The trouble shooting page did apply to me.

If makecode was used, then only a single press of reset is needed to enter bootloader mode.

To summarize the behavior:
* Plug CPX in with known good USB cable
* double (or single) press reset to get into bootloader mode
* a CPLAYBOOT folder appears briefly and/or locks up when accessing
* at the same time, all of the NeoPixels on the CPX are green
* same general behavior repeats on another PC

Is that correct?

The trouble shooting page did apply to me.
Specifically which mentioned item did you need to deal with? Is there some kind of 3rd party software running on the PC? Do you manage both of the PCs used, so have control of 3rd part software installs?

Do you have access to another non-Windows PC to try? Maybe the same software is running on both?

Do you have any other development boards other than the CPX?
