Trouble with Transferring Roms

by larrybagina on Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:35 pm

The tutorial links to instructions for adding more roms to the Pi, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
(ensure that your USB is formatted to FAT32)
first create a folder called retropie on your USB stick
plug it into the pi and wait for it to finish blinking
pull the USB out and plug it into a computer
add the roms to their respective folders (in the retropie/roms folder)
plug it back into the raspberry pi
wait for it to finish blinking
refresh emulationstation by pressing F4, or choosing quit from the start menu

Nothing happens when I stick the usb stick into the Pi, no blinking of lights or acknowledgement or anything. Any ideas?

Do you have a WiFi dongle you can use to connect the Pi Zero on your network? You could then see if you can SFTP the ROMs over.

Nope.
I'm in the process of a move so I'm reluctant to pick up more stuff in the meantime.

I have Pi Zero connected to mac via usb cable, is there a way to see it in Finder to add more roms?

Have you tried the manual copy option at the bottom of the page you linked?

I tried it, but I don't currently have a keyboard (it's packed) so navigating the file manager is not something that is easy to do.

I have been unable to transfer ROMs as well. Following the procedure I see no blinking LED when I first plug in a USB. I have verified I am plugging it into the USB port and not the pwr in port. I tried going to the file manager, but that becomes unreadable if you try to work it without a keyboard. I did not see the USB mounted when it first comes up. Also on boot I see one fail, the line has "USB" on it. A line above that has a OK with a line of "USB" on it. I am not sure if that is expected on the PI that comes with the ADABOX.

The folders were not created yet by the pi yet. I did do some rebooting with the usb plugged in and this seemed to have helped.
