I went in a different direction with my bot. I converted it into a Balance Bot with the help of a few more components. The Feather CPU runs off the battery that came in the ADABOX while the motors run off an additional 2000mAh battery connected to a PowerBoost 1000. A 3D printed frame fits between two of the aluminum plates from the original robot and holds a MPU-6050 Accelerometer+Gyro module, both batteries, and a Feather Proto to carry the Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE and DC Motor + Stepper FeatherWing.
This is a work in progress but here is my github repo and a Video of it in its current state.

Just saw this -- great work! Also, I love your docking box you built to hold it while it's at rest.
