That's really cool! Bringing model railroading into the 21st century. Great project use. Wish we could like posts. Thumbs up!

Thanks!

I'll post the final billboard when I get it on the model RR. But ... I got a 3D printer last week so am consumed by the new toy. However, I do want to use it to make the billboard stand - if I can muster the skills to 3D model it.

Stay tuned.

Hello again. Passing by I noticed what looks like a ZS-042 clock module with a CR2032 in your circuit. There may be a danger in this. I recently read a forum discussion of the problem. FYI.

That is too cool. As a kid in the '50s, I could have never imagined such a cool thing. Good for you!

Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, yes I knew about the issue researching the board before I got it, and I have disabled the charging of the battery on the board. That is indeed a bad design!

Awesome sauce! Beautifully executed project. No mention of the technicalities of wiring or updating the billboard? I'm not into trains but I think others who might want to follow this kind of thing would be very interested in the technical details of your project. 10/10 for a model train yard.

Thanks for the comments. Here is the wiring diagram and program files if anyone wants to play with it. Thanks to Adafruit Industries for the libraries needed to make the display work.
