PyGamer from AdaBox - White Screen

by dobbz on Tue Jul 09, 2019 1:59 pm

The PyGamer seems to work for about 5 minutes before it white-screens. All sound is working - so it appears as if the processor continues to work (it's not locked up), but the screen is completely white. I've used the debugging U2F and encounter the same thing.

If I let it sit off for awhile, it appears to resolve - in that I can play it for another 5 minutes - and then the same things happens.

I powered on this AM and it worked for a short while with the debugging file (~5 minutes). Everything was green.

QSPI Flask OK
Manuf: 0xC8 Dev: 0x17
Filesystem OK: 3 files
Accelerometer OK!

Light: 26 Batt: 4.10V
D2/A8: 0.24V D3/A9: 0.23V

After about 5 minutes of being 'on', the screen went white. This was with the debugging U2F.

The red light next to the USB input is pulsing. (not sure if that's normal at this point).

Does it also do this if you power it from USB (i.e. not battery)?

If I let it sit off for awhile, it appears to resolve

So if you just try to press reset when it happens, it doesn't instantly start working again?

Yes. Same issue on both USB and Battery.
If I push reset, or double push reset, it comes up with the white screen.

Weird. Not power related then. Sounds like some very subtle marginal connection that finally disconnects after some warm up time. Let's just replace it.

Send an email to support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement PyGamer. You got this with an AdaBox, but only need a replacement PID 4242.
