Loading microPython onto Adafruit Feather M0 Adalogger

by Stefan_ on Thu Dec 15, 2016 3:19 pm

Hi everyone,

I am trying to load microPython onto the Feater M0 Adlogger board. I followed the instructions in this video/ guide:

https://learn.adafruit.com/micropython- ... 1/overview

I downloaded the recent firmware and bossac-1.7 from the GitHub

when I try to use ./bossac -e -w -v -R -p tty.usbmodem411 firmware.bin i always get "No device found on tty.usbmodem411"

One thing i noticed is that other then in the video my board falls out of bootloader-mode fairly quickly.
I am on a MacBookPro El Capitan Version 10.11.16

Thanks for the Help!

Stefan_,
When putting the in the device type /dev/tty.usbm and hit tab for it to complete. Usually it'll be the only thing plugged in so it will fill in the numbers for you.

Your device shouldn't exit the bootloader until after bossac is finished and you can remove the -R from the command to prevent that to make sure. If you do remove the -R you'll have to reset the board yourself manually.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the answer. Also autocomplete of /dev/tty.usbm still gives me the /dev/tty.usbmodem411.

Does it work with the full path instead of just the usb...?

/dev/tty.usbmodem411
tty.usbmodem411
usbmodem411
411

are all not working. Maybe i am missing a step. Do i maybe have to compile something first?

No, you shouldn't need to compile anything. Make sure the the path to the MicroPython binary is correct and that the red light on the feather is fading up and down like it does when in the bootloader. Its possible you need a different version of bossac but try the other things first. Also double check that the usb number isn't longer than 411. If there were two plugged in the tab complete would give you the common prefix.
