Editting Python on a Mounted Express Drive

by j_tinker on Thu Aug 24, 2017 8:42 pm

I'm still learning python. I'm looking for an Editor that will help me do correct basic Python Syntax for my Express board without flipping out if I use CircuitPython specific code. I guess I'd like an editor with a light touch autocorrect approach and/or highly customizable so I can make it accept any CircuitPython specifics. I'm guessing this is a problem as I haven't really gotten to it. I've been playing with editors, like Atom, for regular PC based python and they seem to have a higher than expected learning curve and may be overkill for the Express.

Thanks.

I use Atom. Have you tried it with CircuitPython?

You should be able to use the same thing for CircuitPython that you do with desktop Python.

Thanks.

was worried that going from Python->MP->CP, there might be some possible syntax issues. I guess most of the difference should be in the module names.

Yup! Syntax should be identical. Modules will differ though like you expect.

If you have a Raspberry Pi, give Thonny Python IDE a try. It is a small and very capable IDE.
