Gemma MO and playing audio?

by jploudre on Tue Aug 29, 2017 11:04 pm

I'm running CircuitPython 1.0 on this board. The Gemma specs mentions playing 10 bit audio files.

Has anyone gotten audio to work?

I'm new to Python so I'm troubleshooting (and maybe missing something?). In the REPL I don't see the audioio module. And looking on the CircuitPython API website, I see that it says audioio isn't supported on the SAMD21

Its not supported on the Gemma M0 with the stock build. It wouldn't be too hard to build your own with support for it but you'd need to remove something else.

How do you plan on storing your audio?

I was planning on storing it on the device. I've got about 40kb to play with so it'll only hold a sec, probably.

If I could get it to play a lower resolution (8Khz) I could fit more.

My 'Hero' on this project is a person who did this with a ATtiny85 using the flash to run a speaker directly.

Ok, you should be able to do it with a custom build of CircuitPython.

Using Arduino instead would give you a lot more flash space though.

Let me know if you have questions about CircuitPython.
