I did that earlier today just because you never know, and there was no difference.

I also found I had an extra prop maker board and swapped it for the one previous one. No difference there either.

Hmm.. jumped the gun on blaming the propmaker wing then.

Will A0 work as a digital output? Can you hook up an LED and control it or something similar? That would tell us if there is a problem with the A0 connection between the pin and chip.

Thank you so much for all your help. It is truly appreciated. Since I didn't purchase this via Adafruit, I'll be returning it via other avenues tomorrow, and have purchased a replacement directly from Adafruit.

Before I send it back, I'll try your suggestion because knowledge is good, but as stated in an earlier post, I was unable to get audio from A0, so that was enough for me since if it can't do that, it does me no good.

Again thanks!
Darrell

I hate to say good to see you again, but here I am. I received another NEW Feather M0 Express and paired it with one of my Prop Maker Wings. Same thing. I hear a tiny crackle but nothing more. So now I'm more convinced than ever that it's me, not you.

Could this be related?

Sorry to hear it :(

Is it the same with an Arduino sketch that e.g. uses tone to output to A0?

I haven't tried that. I'll play around and update this post when I have results.

I'm back in Arduino land and managed to get a faint melody out of it with code that's probably not totally suitable for what I'm doing. Can you point me toward a good sketch to test with?

Thanks!

My thought was to get audio out of the feather, and see if you get reasonable sound through the propwing and out the speaker.

With the following sketch, I'm getting very low output that I can only hear if I press the speaker to my ear.

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
void setup()
{
  pinMode(10, OUTPUT);
}

void loop()
{
  tone(10, 261); // middle C
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 277); // C#
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 294); // D
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 311); // D#
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 330); // E
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 349); // F
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 370); // F#
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 392); // G
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 415); // G#
  delay(1000);

  tone(10, 440); // A
  delay(1000);
}

You should be hearing more than that.

I've switched Prop Maker Wings and the results are exactly the same. There's some basic thing I'm missing. The only things connected are the speaker and usb cable.

The code you posted doesn't do a digital write of True to pin 10. That might be done by default... I forget.

What speaker are you using?

I've tried 4 different speakers, 2 kinds. Both are 8 ohm. The bigger one is slightly louder, but neither can be heard at arm's length.
