Neopixels on NVIDIA Jetson

by rosmax on Wed Jan 29, 2020 1:12 pm

I wonder if it is possible to control a Neopixel LED strip with a NVIDIA Jetson TX 2. To do so, I followed this tutorial:

The tutorial states that using the Adafruit_Blinka library it should be possible for every Linux-with-GPIO-support running computer to handle the Neopixels.

"You can use these LEDs with any CircuitPython microcontroller board or with a computer that has GPIO and Python thanks to Adafruit_Blinka, our CircuitPython-for-Python compatibility library."

However, when testing the sample script provided in the tutorial above my application crashes when I want to import the neopixel library. The error message says that my board is not supported.
As mentioned here https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Blinka/issues/141#issuecomment-524921957 the Neopixel library only supports the Raspberry Pi.

I really would like to use The Neopixel LED strip together with my Jetson TX 2. Unfortunately I cannot use any other board or microcontroller.
What is wrong here? Can somebody point me into the right direction please?

Hi rosmax,

Thanks for letting us know. I have opened up an issue here: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Blinka/issues/242
