Best board for prototyping

by Phill93 on Wed Feb 05, 2020 8:24 am

Hello,

I am looking for a Circuit Python board with which I can do as much as possible. I want to pack it in my laptop backpack so that I can try out something on the way.

I have looked at the CircuitPlayground Express but I am annoyed that it has no WLAN.

Can anyone recommend me a board?

The CircuitPlayground boards have enough sensors on board to keep you busy for a while. I suggest the CircuitPlayground Bluefruit https://www.adafruit.com/product/4333. Its nRF52840 has enough memory to do some sizable applications. If you have need for wifi with it, you could get a proto gizmo https://www.adafruit.com/product/4320 and wire up an AirLift breakout https://www.adafruit.com/product/4201. I haven't tried this, but there are enough connections available for it.

Followup. I just confirmed this. Airlift breakout wired to a CircuitPlayground BlueFruit and running the Connect to Wifi code from: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-airlift-breakout/internet-connect.

Connections:

SCK = A1
MISO = A2
MOSI = A3
CS = A6
BUSY = TX
RST = A5

And the code:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
esp32_cs = DigitalInOut(board.A6)
esp32_ready = DigitalInOut(board.TX)
esp32_reset = DigitalInOut(board.A5)
