Motor Hat 0x70 Call All Issue

by ZakEspley on Tue Jul 07, 2020 7:38 pm

Hi All,

I am using a Raspberry pi 4B and the Motor Hat for Raspberry Pi Product # 2348.

We are attempting to connect an additional device to our Raspberry Pi using I2C but it is also attempting to use the 0x70 address, which is the "call all" for the motorhats. Is there a way to prevent the Motorhat from using 0x70 or changing the call all address?

Software options preferred but capable of a hardware hack if needed.

Thanks,
Zak

I don't believe there is any way to disable the all-call address in the PCA9685 chip.

We do have an i2c multiplexer. But you would need to hack the HAT a bit to redirect the i2c bus pins through the multiplexer.
