Status of CircuitPython on Teensy 4.1

by sealyon on Fri Sep 11, 2020 8:43 am

What is the current status of CP running on Teensy 4.1? Is it supported in stable 5.3 or only in the 6.0 Alpha? What is known to work and what is known to have problems? Is there a guide somewhere showing how to get it loaded on the Teensy 4.1? Appreciate any info anyone has. Thanks.

I do not represent Adafruit, but can provide some information.
I have not done extensive testing on the teensy4.1 , but it does work with the 6.0 - Alpha builds.
Support was added in the 5.3.1 release, but I don't know if there are any issues with it.
The download page suggests using the latest 6.0.0-alpha3 version so I'd recommend that.

I flash my Teensy4.1 using the command line loader
https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/loader_cli.html

this is the command that I use:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
teensy_loader_cli  -mmcu=imxrt1062 -w firmware.hex

FYI - I am using a Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) system to load the files. I have also used a Mac (Catalina)

I hope that helps -- good luck!

Thanks. How have you found it to work? Have you seen any problems? If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing with it?

At this point, it is just something to play with. I have not done a lot of testing with it and it has been awhile (several months) since I have used it and I know there has been a lot of development since then.
is there something in particular you want you want verified?

Also FYI -- the on board SDCard is not currently supported by CircuitPython.
