PyBadge soldering errors

Post by slight »

Hello Adafruit-Support-Team,

i have received a order from Mouser today with two Adafruit PyBadge boards.
(logistics these days are fascinating! - i ordered Friday evening - and the package arrived today (Monday) afternoon here in Germany!)

i checked the content and experimented already with the one PyBadge.
nice - this will be a great fun thing to experiment with!!

on closer Inspection of the second one i noticed that there are some ugly solder-errors:
one of the Feather-Compatible sockets on the back are miss-aligned -
at one pin there seems to be a smd-resistor sodler on the pad for the socket-strip..
and on the other side there are two caps thumbstoning..
i have attached photos of the board and the errors.

i think i can try and repair this - but don't know how heat-sensitiv the display on the front is...
any tips on how to remove the socket to cleanly reaatach it?
(i have multiple soldering irons and a hot-air-station on site - all more on the low end site..
its school material and gets sometimes abused...)

Getting that header strip off cleanly could be tricky. You should contact Mouser and see if they will arrange a replacement, since that's where you got it. Let me know if you get satisfaction from therm. Feel free to link them to this thread.

Hi Dave,
did took some time till they reacted -
maybe this was because i wrote per mail and not per the website request form...
today they send a replacement shipping onto the way to us..

so all fine now!

by the way: the boards are really nice to work with!!

sunny greetings
