Circuit Playground Express or Bluefruit talking to each othe

by mikekinney on Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:27 pm

Is it possible to get Circuit Playground Express (pn 3333) and/or Bluefruits (pn 4333) talking to each other using LoRa?

Would using a Crickit ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/3093 ) help?

I'd prefer to use either the Adafruit RFM95W LoRa Radio Transceiver Breakout - 868 or 915 MHz - RadioFruit
( https://www.adafruit.com/product/3072 ) or Adafruit LoRa Radio Bonnet with OLED - RFM95W @ 915MHz - RadioFruit
( https://www.adafruit.com/product/4074 )

Yeah, it definitely is. You shouldn't need a crickit, and I think that PID 3072 would work better than PID 4074

That's great! I have the pieces... now just need to find out how to connect them.

Any ideas how to wire them up?

I may have misspoken earlier. It looks like you need a MISO and MOSI to wire the RFM95 to a board and I don't think the CPX has one of those.

Darn. Ok.

So, I guess I need to use a Feather ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/3078 ) and this Crickit ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/3343 ) since I want to drive some servos.

Yeah, looks like that might be the case.

SAMD21 ("M0") processors such as on the CPX have limited RAM. The LoRa libraries barely fit. An M4 processor (SAMD51, nRF52840, or STM32) has much more RAM.

If you are using nRF52840 boards, though, you could use Bluetooth, if the range is short.
