MicroPython startup

by GilbertGagne on Mon Nov 09, 2020 1:08 pm

I'm a newbie with STM32F411VE-Discovery board and I am interested in writing MicroPython script files for this board. I've downloaded the latest stable .bin file for this board. My question is: now what? How exactly do I download this .bin file to my board or else get MicroPython up & running? My Win10 PC has Keil uVision5 that I used for programming on TI's TM4C123GH6PM which is also a Cortex-M4, and I have terminal program putty. Any help greatly appreciated.

We are not familiar with the board variant you are using, but I can point you at our MicroPython Setup and notes page for our STM32F405 Feather Express:

Since your board probably does not have a bootloader that will allow the drag and drop updates we accomplish with UF2 files you might want to look at the bossac utility which is a legacy tool for us know, but was necessary to get BIN files loaded on our earlier boards.

just for illustrative purposes:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
bossac -p=/dev/cu.usbmodem14301 -e -w -v -R --offset=0x4000 adafruit-circuitpython-feather_m4_express-3.0.0.bin
