nRF52840 Feather Express as Hue light

by gymnae on Tue Nov 10, 2020 9:01 am

Hi all,

I would like to control some LEDs attached to a Adafruit nRF52840 Feather Express.

Since I have a Philips Hue bridge in the house and the Feather is supposed to be Zigbee compatible, I wondered how I could achieve this with CircuitPython. I see that there's a library prepared by adafruit for interfacing with a Hue bridge, but this so far requires esp* hardware.

The end goal is to integrate the Feather via the Hue Hub with my home assistant installation, which doesn't seem to have have a direct method to interface with nRF52840 based bluetooth actors.

Unfortunately, CircuitPython doesn't have Zigbee support. I don't know of any alternatives.

Hi tannewt,

thanks for your quick reply, then I won't investigate in this direction further.
Are there other way to expose the nRF52840 Feather Express GPIO without using the Adafruit BLE connect app? Maybe I can somehow build a bridge with a different bluetooth device, like an ESP, which is attached to my homeassistant to control the feather.
