128x32 "chained" matrix Text Scrolling?

by senorKlev on Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:41 pm

Hi All,
For the Adabox 16 unveiling https://youtu.be/Yr3F8EBAVBU?t=2037 there was a brief demo of two displays linked together. Is there a learning portal example for that, or can someone point me in the right direction for what to edit in the circuit python code for dual matrix text scrolling. I've been trying to find some more info, but can't seem to find it for some reason...
best,
bk

@senorKlev,

Take a look at Protomatter. There is a simple example. This is ideal for chaining multiple matrices.

Thanks @mikeysklar ! Your links and this link helped me wrap my mind around it all:
https://circuitpython.readthedocs.io/projects/matrixportal/en/latest/api.html#adafruit_matrixportal.matrix.Matrix

All I needed to do in the circuit python matrix portal scrolling text example to get two chained 64x32 displays working was to specify width as shown below:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE

# --- Display setup ---

matrixportal = MatrixPortal(width=128, status_neopixel=board.NEOPIXEL, debug=True)
