Magtag battery dies after 1-1/2 days

by NeutralDensity on Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:48 pm

The Magtag that came with AdaBox017 always runs the battery down after 1-1/2 days. I had purchased two Magtags just before I received AdaBox017 and they have been working fine.
The AdaBox017 Magtag is currently running UF2 6.1.0-rc.0. I swapped batteries with one of the other two Magtags and copied all of the libraries and code so they would be the same.
But the AdaBox017 Magtag still runs the battery down after 1-1/2 days. The other two Magtags have been running days on their battery.
I don't know what else to check or try. It seems to operate fine other than can't run off battery very long.

Are they all running the same code? Lot's of the new examples for the MagTag are using the new sleep feature, which greatly extends the battery run time. But not all. Without any sleep, something like 1 1/2 days seems about right.

We had a sleep bug recently that may have been in rc.0. (The bug was that sleep was ~2.5mA because it left the touch circuitry on even when not in use.) Please try the latest version from S3. I believe it's been fixed.

Thank you for the suggestions. Last evening I downloaded and installed the very latest UF2 file for the Magtag. I will keep track over the next few days to see how it is working.
Thanks!

I am happy to report my Magtag has been running fine for 9 days and there still is battery power left. It wasn't a hardware problem; just a software issue. I installed UF2 ...magtag_2.9_grayscale_en_US-20210113-8f9db77.uf2, plus libraries from ...bundle-6x-mpy-20210106.
Note to myself: when comparing two identical hardware, make sure the UF2s are the same, not just the libraries and code.
Thanks for your help and support!
